Happy Spring everyone! Hoping you are all enjoying the bounties of the season; Apple Blossoms, Dandelion Leaves, Stinging nettle, Ramps and Fiddle-heads.
Tuesday May 30th, 7 – 9pm will be our next meeting. We will be meeting here at Dogwood & Brambles, our family farm. We have a great night planned! As always guests are welcome (guest fee $25) Please note: This is our last herb course of the season, the rest of the summer you and I will be busy working in our gardens and enjoying the fruitful season. We will meet again in September.
We will close the year with a special ceremonial blessing around our fire. Thanks to our friend from the Chippewa’s of Georgina, Laurie Hoeg who will perform the ceremony.
Herb Walk – With the beauty of spring upon us, we absolutely have to be outside on a herb walk enjoying the medicinal and edible plants that surround us. Now we can see how the plants look in immaturity and witness how they change along with the seasons. It can be difficult to identify plants at the various stages of their growth. Just liken the plants to people, imagine trying to envision what a baby would look like as an old man. We have to become familiar with herbs in all their stages of growth to properly identify for picking.
Plant Exchange – We are encouraging everyone to participate in our spring plant exchange. Please bring mature clumps of herbs to share with one another. We would also really appreciate you planting a mature clump in our herb walk area. Many thanks for sharing your plants 🙂
Looking forward to seeing you all soon
